Take a quick moment for self-reflection...
World Environment Day falls on June 5th every year, and is the vehicle for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. It is important that we all do our part to care.
Less waste in general is the way to go. When there is a choice, choose less waste.
Here's a list of things to consider as we work to improve our efforts:
Drive less by combining trips instead of making separate trips. Ride your bike more or walk if it is an option. Just leave a little earlier and burn some calories while you're at it. Take public transportation if your city has that option. Car pool with others. Work from home. Keep track of food trash that you regularly through away and adjust the amount you buy. Eat all your leftovers instead of discarding it. Create compost and use it as fertilizer to grow your own vegetables. Take home leftovers when you go out to eat. Use less food packaging by buying bulk. Carry your cups instead of using disposables. And eat as local as possible.
Those are only a few ways to help the environment and there are many more. But do something. It seems like everyone is waiting for everyone else to save the Earth when we are all responsible.
You can only control yourself.
With yourself be vigilant. With yourself be stern. With yourself be happy.
